I wrote this post for one simple reason…so we can all laugh at how stupid preseason predictions are…but also if I’m right on any of these you’re not going to hear the end of it.
Most Improved Player – Goran Dragic – PHX
This is the hardest award to predict. A total shot in the dark guess is Dragic, I think he’ll thrive in the Suns system and might put up some diet-Nash type numbers.
Sixth Man of the Year – Ray Allen – MIA
He’s a Hall of Famer, he’ll be coming off the bench behind Dwayne Wade, and every shot he takes will be open 3-pointers. (hyperbole alert)
Rookie of the Year – Thomas Robinson – SAC
I know the popular vote would be for the Uni-brow Anthony Davis, but I love Robinson’s story, and his talent. That along with the utter disarray the rest of team will presumably be under, Robinson will shine like a diamond lost in a septic tank.
Defensive Player of the Year – Dwight Howard – LAL
It should be Lebron James, but alas recently the writers have decided to basically give it to the guy that gets a ton of rebounds and blocks (Tyson Chandler winning it was a joke and it wouldn’t have happened if he played for any team other than the one in New York). I do however, expect Howard’s team defense to improve under Mike Brown.
NBA MVP – Lebron James – MIA
I don’t think we’re going to see any surprises here, the top five guys are going to be

- Kevin Durant – OKC
- Chris Paul – LAC
- Kobe Bryant – LAL
- Dwight Howard – LAL
